#Order of the stick tropes plus
Here, where I am stationed, it is all the regular stress of a regular job, plus all the time you could want to worry about other things. No more worrying about family, finances, careers, etc. It pushes all other worries far into the background. Maybe being that focused is less stressful. Their officer replied that the locals they meet would, most likely, be shooting at them, and that they would be returning fire. I asked them if they had learned any of the local languages, or would they have a translator with them. Speaking with one of their commanders, I learned that their average age of their group was 18 years old. On our way across the Atlantic we were flying with a bunch of Marines. And I can’t even imagine the stress of those who stationed a step or two forward of my location who are actually “not until you can see the whites of their eyes” fighting.

I think that this occurs more among the civilians who come here to work, than it does for those of us who are deployed here. I do know that there are a few individuals, for whom this is a vacation from their jobs and their home life. I wonder if some people deal with the stress better because their life back in the states is already stressful. The everyday stress level, being deployed, is greater than the stress of my everyday life back home.
